The future of sustainable farming, nutrition and natural personal care
At the world’s leading trade fair for organic food and besides the simultaneously organised international trade fair for natural and organic personal care VIVANESS, each year up to 2,800 exhibitors from the international organic sector from 95 countries and more than 51,000 visitors from 135 countries, amongst it leading representatives of politics and administration, are getting together at the BIOFACH fair in Nuremberg. This demonstrates the strong global appeal it exercises as a major business meeting place on buyers, suppliers and organic sector organisations, but also on conventional agricultural companies, who consider entering the organic market.
The organic market has firmly established itself as a global growth market with sales of over EUR 125 billion (2021), of which the European market has exceeded a volume of EUR 55 billion and with an annual growth of over 17% the Asia-Pacific market will be the fastest growing region in the coming years. In Germany the market for organic food exceeded sales of more than 15 billion euros, which qualifies the country globally as the second largest market after the U.S. (50 billion euros). These figures illustrate the great importance of the European organic market as well as the potential opportunities which are offered consequently to producers all over the world.
Slowly also Japanese producers begin to take advantage of the resulting sales potential for high quality niche products which may open up to their companies. Through promotion of a common exhibition booth JETRO has supported the market presentation of Japanese organic food companies in many years at the BIOFACH exhibition. Also the Japanese government emphasizes an increased export of Japanese agricultural products. The producers have realized that health- and nutrition-conscious consumers are prepared at a growing rate to pay higher prices for organic products, in an otherwise extremely competitive European food market. Now Japanese companies need to demonstrate that they are capable to achieve also lasting success with suitable products in a fast growing market. On the other way round the BIOFACH fair provides an important occasion for Japanese importers to inform themselves about the ever growing worldwide supply of high quality organic food and natural cosmetic products, in order to satisfy the continuously growing demand of organic products also on the Japanese market.
